This is a man from another era. His eyes are squinted in a sharp, intense glare. At first, I thought this face came straight out of the film classic The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, a 1966 spaghetti western with brilliant music composed by Ennio Morricone. This would be “The Ugly,” one of the three characters, played by Eli Wallach.
But as I looked longer, I was also reminded of Bud Spencer, an Italian actor, professional swimmer, and water polo player who passed away in 2016. He made humorous films with Terence Hill, movies that were about nothing in particular, where he mostly played the strongman, dishing out punches to the bad guys. In any case, this is a man from the past—the strong, silent type. That type isn’t appreciated anymore. These days, communication is everything, preferably online or via an app. This kind of man is not well-versed in that. By the way, Terence Hill is still alive.
