Techno is probably the hardest and most intense style of house music; conceived in Frankfurt, born in Detroit, and now residing in Berlin. I regularly visit the famous clubs in the Friedrichshain district. The city of Berlin has even declared the music and its clubs as cultural heritage, which is a tribute to both the music and the lifestyle: honest, pure, loving, and intense. The music is loud, but the ladies rule. There are many highly successful female DJs in the techno scene, and Charlotte de Witte is one of them.
I love the sight of someone so seemingly fragile, behind the decks, whipping up the crowd with that powerful, heavy, repetitive beat—everyone dressed in black, everyone connected, dancing until the morning.
