At first glance, it seems like time and the elements have turned this composition into an abstract artwork with beautiful three-dimensional effects. A striking abstract piece in its own right—that’s how I photographed it. But when I looked longer, I started seeing other things.
At the bottom, you can just make out a few monkeys, a bit higher up there’s a tomato with eyes, and right in the center, there’s a cigarette being held by what appears to be a hairy hand. There are also tiny faces on the poster. So, there’s still some figurative imagery to be discovered. It’s a scene well on its way to becoming fully abstract; time will wear it down. Unless, of course, someone adds something new to it—another layer or spray. Then it becomes the perfect backdrop for something fresh. All street art is, after all, work in progress.
