The street is dying. At least, it feels a bit like that in Berlin. The process of gentrification is making everything more expensive and polished in this city too. Fortunately, the city of Berlin has recognized and acknowledged this and has banned rent increases in various parts of the city. This includes the spot where this photo was taken—right in front of the entrance to Berghain, the most iconic techno-fetish-gay club in Berlin, and since COVID, also a leading museum filled with modern art on loan from the Boros collection.
The club is open non-stop from Friday to Monday. Its door policy is infamous, and the line can stretch from three to six hours. But that doesn’t deter anyone. I took this photo when I had the chance to photograph a DJ who, luckily, put me on the guest list. By the way, Freddy partied not only in Berlin but also in Munich.
