She looks away a little shyly, her face turned over her shoulder. She’s in a rather unremarkable spot in El Carmen; a modest place. Usually, I can’t pinpoint where everything is in this neighborhood, where it’s so easy to get lost, and where wandering and getting lost is part of the fun. Yet, somehow, I manage to find everything, walking from one landmark to the next.
This graffiti artist has created more works in El Carmen; her style is clearly recognizable. I know it’s a she because I’ve seen her at work. All her pieces have something sweet and vulnerable about them. What I found so beautiful is how the plant is becoming her hair. If they leave her and the plant alone for a while, at some point, they’ll visually grow into each other.
