About Me

Gert Willem Haasnoot

My name is Gert Willem Haasnoot, and I love the rough edges and intensity of life. I also love freedom and creativity; that’s where beauty lies.

In a society that seeks to organize and control, I search for the free spirits, for those who don’t fit in, and for the free spaces in the city. Hippies, artists, night owls, addicts, graffiti—I enjoy photographing them. Street art naturally fits right into that. As a former doorman and worker at the Salvation Army, I know the other side of society, where the rules don’t always apply.

Check out my other works on my personal website.

The Streetshots series emerged spontaneously from the wanderings I make through the streets of European cities, where I seek out interesting street art. Over time, graffiti, posters, wind, rain, and sun mix on the walls to create spontaneous readymades, which I capture and transform into artworks.

I hope that those who purchase the street art from Streetshots.com also believe in the power of freedom and creativity and choose the intensity and rough edges of life—where life becomes exciting.

“Those who dance are thought mad by those who hear not the music.”
