I saw this stunning composition in an unexpected place, right in the heart of Amsterdam. I was visiting a friend, an artist who was temporarily living in a canal house through a special city program. The composition is wild, like raging flames that seem to use the posters beneath it as fuel. The lady in blue looks at us in panic, while Bruce Lee remains calmer. He always advised us to be like water. Water extinguishes fire, so perhaps he knows he’s safe. Fire is beautiful, but also dangerous. It warms, purifies, and destroys. Luckily, you can safely gaze at this composition. The title is a playful nod to a famous work by Barnett Newman: Who’s Afraid of Red, Yellow and Blue.
